Ontario Immigration Nominee Program

Ontario is the most popular province in Canada and its capital Toronto is the largest city in Canada. Since the largest part of its economy is the services sector which employs 79% of the province and includes business, financial, professional and technical services as well as culture and arts.

The Ontario Immigration nominee program (OINP) supports employers by each the immigration of central, professional and skilled foreign workers and international students required to meet their human resources needs. This province operates the OINP in partnership with the federal immigration department Immigration refugees and citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Processing Time:

Processing time its take Two Types:

  1. How long it takes for the province to issue the nomination.
  2. How long it takes for the permanent resident visa to be processed and issued.

Ontario Currently issues their processing times between 60-90 days for most streams. The Express Entry skilled trades applications are being processed within 30-60 days. The Business applications processing times depend on the problem of each file. IRCC currently processes provincial non-express entry nominee applications within 15-19 months. For the Express Entry in normal 6 months applies.

Ontario Immigration (OINP) Streams:

Ontario operates an Expression of Interest system to manage the intake of five streams- Employer Job Offer (all three streams) and International Student (Masters and PhD Graduates).

The OINP manages Three Immigration categories:

  1. Human Capital
  2. Employer Job Offer
  3. Business Immigration

Human Capital Category:

This category enables OINP to nominate candidates who have skills, Education, Work experience to contribute to Ontario’s economy and labour market. Its cover of Three Express Entry streams and Two International student streams.

Express Entry French-speaking skilled worker stream:

  1. Active profile under the federal Express Entry System and qualified FSWP or CEC
  2. Minimum one year full time work experience and under NOC occupation level O, A or B in the past five years
  3. Qualification equivalent of a Canadian Bachelor's degree or higher
  4. Minimum Language NCLC level 7 in French and minimum level CLB level 6 in English
  5. Intention to reside
  6. Residing with Legal Status
  7. Proof of funds

Express Entry Human Capital Priorities stream: OINP issues NOI

  1. Stream → skilled workers → live and work
  2. Active profile under the federal Express Entry system and qualified FSWP or CEC
  3. Minimum one year full time work experience under NOC O, A or B in the past five years
  4. Qualification equivalent to a Canadian Bachelor's degree or higher
  5. Language proficiency CLB/NCLC level 7 in English or French
  6. Intention to reside
  7. Residing with Legal Status
  8. Proof of funds
  9. Minimum Express Entry CRS score as determined by director under period draws

Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream:

  1. Active profile under the federal Express Entry system and qualified CEC
  2. At least 12 months continuous work experience in Ontario
  3. Proof of Ontario license or certification an occupation requirement
  4. Minimum language CLB/NCLC level 5 or above in English or French
  5. Proof of fund

Masters Graduate stream:

  1. Graduated →masters degree → Institution →Ontario → minimum 1 year full time
  2. Language → minimum → CLB/NCLC level 7 / above English or French
  3. Residing is legal
  4. Proof of funds
  5. Legal status in Ontario or abroad
  6. Application → submitted → 2years →graduate → masters degree

PhD Graduate Stream:

Application Process:

  1. Ontario → Application → Express Entry Pool
  2. Meet the eligibility criteria for one of the streams
  3. Meet the minimum CRS score
  4. Candidates who are selected will receive NOI (Notification of Interest) from Ontario and submit an application for nomination under OINP
  5. Application for nomination submitted 45 calendar days application fee 1500$
  6. Application approved candidates received nomination certificates and 600 points under Express Entry Profile
  7. Following Express Entry Draw and received ITA for permanent Residence to the IRCC. The ITA submitted within 60 days from receipts

Employer Job Offer:

  1. Foreign worker stream
  2. International student stream
  3. In-Demand skills stream
  4. Regional Immigration pilot

Foreign Worker Stream:

A Permanent and full time job offer under NOC O, A or B that meets the median salary level and position

Two purpose years of relevant work experience in the previous five years before the date of application

Mandatory licensing in Ontario

Live abroad or working, studying or visiting Canada on a valid permit

Intention to settle

International student stream

  1. Full time job offer under NOC O, A or B that Meets low salary level and position
  2. Completed at least half the studies in Canada
  3. Apply within two years from the date you completed the above course
  4. Legal status
  5. Intention to settle

In-Demand skills stream:

  1. Permanent and full time job offer under certain occupations agriculture or construction sector and meets media salary in Ontario for occupation and position
  2. Nine months of continuous work experience in the last three years in one of the eligible occupations. Experience must be paid and full time or equivalent in part time in Ontario. Seasonal work does not count
  3. Equivalent to Canadian school education or higher
  4. Valid certificate or license at the time of application for any claimed work experience that requires
  5. Minimum CLB/NCLC 4 in English in all languagesLive abroad or working, studying or visiting Canada on a valid permit
  6. Intention to settle

Regional Immigration pilot:

Application Process:

Candidates meet the requirements for the online application. Application fee 2000$(if job offer there in GTA) or 1500$ (if job offer outside GTA). Next applications are approved candidates receive nomination letters and apply PR with IRCC within 6 months.
