After the fifth year has passed, the procedure of extending or renewing the visa can begin.

Process #1: Complete the Language Test
It is necessary to obtain a report in either English or French. English language assessment can be achieved through IELTS with CLB.

Candidates who received their diploma outside of Canada should contact Educational Credential Assessments for a certificate (ECA). Degrees and diplomas earned outside of Canada are evaluated using an ECA.
Process #3: Enroll in Express Entry Program
Apply for the express entry registration online. The application process is heavily influenced by the Canadian Certificate of Education and the Language Score Card.
Process #4: Earn Good CRS Points
After completing the online express entry application, a score will be given to evaluate the applications of the candidates. After passing the eligibility score, the PR process will be applicable.
Process #5: Wait for the Express Entry Pool
Every 15 days, the Canadian government holds an Express Entry draw to announce the rank. Those who qualify will be asked to apply for permanent residence in the next phase.
Process #6: Receive an invitation to apply
An invitation to apply (ITA) will be given by IRCC to the express entry applicants who have presented their profile to apply for permanent residence. After acquiring an ITA, 60 days will be provided to apply for PR through an online application (eAPR).
